This week we celebrate a new life in Jesus!

This year, we were unable to do baptisms on Easter Sunday because of water quality issues from the recent storms. We are going to be rescheduling those as soon as we are able to do that safely! In the meantime, be blessed by this testimony from Jaymie Yow, who was baptized a few weeks ago.

Growing up in a non-religious environment, I had never been really exposed to Jesus and never thought there would come a day that I would truly accept Him as my Lord and Savior. I had no one in my life to help me learn about Him, and because I could not understand or see Him, I did not have a relationship with Him.

Then in 2023 I began college, which is where I met my best friend Kadyn. Over the past three years, little by little, she has planted little seeds within me that have now flowered, and pointed towards Jesus’ light and the gospel. It started out as random religious questions I would interrogate Kadyn about at Texas Roadhouse, then mini Bible studies, then church invitations. Spring Break 2024 I was here in Hawaii with Kadyn, and we went to Sunday service here at KCC—my first time at church since I was a preschooler. Although I didn’t understand much, I felt a new sense of being at home with Jesus. Over the next few years, before I knew it I had began to accept Jesus into my heart, but I still “wasn’t sure” internally. It was soon after this time that Kadyn almost died in a diving accident, and after her miraculous recovery, there was absolutely ZERO doubt in my mind that Jesus is our Savior and that He saved her life. We all saw His grace, His mercy FIRSTHAND, right before our eyes. When you witness a miracle like that, something that science cannot explain, all of your “doubts” towards Jesus are completely cast away and instead turn into “How can I learn more about You and spread Your truth.” Because of Him I will never have to think about what life, college, or adulthood would be without my best friend. I am so grateful that Jesus is so intentional and places people in our lives to spread His truth. I pray that each one of us Christians serve as this type of mentor to fiercely inspire those around us. Jesus has such an intense plan for every single one of us, He loves us SO MUCH. And now I get to be so inspired to evangelize, in hopes of being able to spread Christianity to those who were once like me. What an honor it was to be baptized here in Hawaii by Kadyn and Pastor Perry! It feels so full circle.

I will trust and not be afraid;
For the Lord God is my strength and song,
And He has become my salvation.”
