This week we celebrate a great year in the AWANA ministry!
Every Wednesday evening, during the school year, KCC is filled with more than 100 children and adults. What are they doing? They are singing worship songs, playing games, listening to Bible stories (maybe even a puppet show), and most importantly: studying and memorizing Scripture!
This is AWANA!
At our award ceremony in May, we celebrated all the kids who memorized Scripture and completed their Bible studies throughout the year. We calculated that more than 350 Bible verses were memorized and recited, between preschoolers to 12th graders. Amazing!
Beyond learning God’s word, the children in KCC AWANA also learned how to give back to our community with once-a-month Mission Nights. They donated food, diapers, hygiene items, school supplies, money, artwork…all of which were distributed to various charities around the island.
The children of KCC AWANA were led by more than 40 loving and dedicated volunteers who came straight to AWANA from their busy days of work or raising their families. These leaders helped children memorize Bible verses, helped them understand what words and phrases meant, where to find verses in their Bible, and taught them how to apply it to their lives!
Several kids asked Jesus into their lives this year, some were baptized at our Easter service, and so many more grew in their faith with God! Helping kids and teens study God’s word is so rewarding and we look forward to AWANA every year…and every Wednesday!!
Want to join us? Great! Let us know!
Want to sign your kids up? Great! Registration is open here.
2 Timothy 2:15 is the key verse for AWANA (and where the name AWANA comes from): Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed.
We watch children and leaders come through this program each year and proudly "do their best to present themselves to God, as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of Truth.” Go AWANA!
