Pastor Chris Nkuusi and his wife, Sylvia, care for their five biological children as well as, in their words, "very many other children." As the founder of Gospel of Life International Ministries, Pastor Chris runs Living Hope Christian School, which he started when he saw an overwhelming need for children of the community to have access to education and mentorship. KCC has been partnering with Living Hope Christian School since 2004, and has helped to feed children, pay teachers' salaries, support Pastor Chris and his family, and fund a permanent structure for the school.
Living Hope Christian School is located in Nateete, one of the suburbs of Uganda's capital city of Kampala. It is primarily a business district, since it is located at the conjunction of several roads. Nateete is a predominantly Muslim slum area built on a swamp, affected greatly by flooding during the rainy season. The crime rate is very high in Nateete, and families there are among the poorest of all of the citizens of Uganda. Many homes in Nateete do not have running water or electricity, and a large number of Nateete's children are abandoned, orphaned, extremely needy, or cared for by aging relatives.
Your gift of $30 per month will give a child:
*Admission to a Christian school
These children live in a predominantly Muslim slum, so access to the Gospel is extremely limited. Living Hope Christian School helps them learn about Jesus!
*A nutritious meal every day
For some of the kids, this is the only meal they are able to eat each day.
*Educational materials
Your donation supports the staff and allows them to purchase needed items to teach the kids well, and provides funds for upkeep for and upgrades to the buildings.
*Daily supervision by trusted adults
Children not in school typically roam the streets of the slum during the day because their guardians are working, finding themselves in dangerous situations.
